The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with global outreach. They promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation, conveying a comprehensive picture of Germany by providing information on Germany's cultural, social and political life.

Goethe-Institut London are looking for a Project Coordinator in their Culture Department to start 15 February 2020. The position will be predominantly dealing with the preparation and coordination of the Institut’s large-scale projects and the successful candidate would ideally have previous experience in the fields of theatre, dance, literature and talks (seminars, panel discussions, symposia etc.).

Employment will be part-time with 29.25 hours per week (this is equivalent to 75% of the full-time working week of 39 hours). The starting salary for an equivalent full-time position in the Goethe-Institut’s remuneration scheme is £30,990 p.a. The full annual leave entitlement for full time employment is 26 days plus Bank Holidays. This increases depending on length of service. The Goethe-Institut also offers a contributory pension scheme.

Duties comprise:

  • Assisting with the planning, preparation and implementation of larger, multi-player (regional) projects in the areas specified.

  • Implementation of projects in the field of theatre, dance, literature and conferences (seminars, panel discussions, symposia) in consultation with the Head of Department.

  • Assisting with press and publicity activities.

  • Settling accounts for events, budget monitoring, filing and archiving.

  • Event reporting.

  • Fostering and maintaining respective networks, contacts and target groups, liaising with artists and speakers; negotiation with partners, venues, suppliers.
