Belluard Festival > Open Call, ‘Looking for Monsters’ (Switzerland)
Fribourg’s Belluard Festival is a cabinet of curiosities. Therefore, it brings together and supports big and small monsters, daring beings, and freak projects that don’t respond to the logic of the market or a product. Belluard Festival favours the rage of creation, the need for reflection, the demand for research, and the breath of poetry.
For 2020, the festival is looking for monsters: ‘Who are the monsters? Who are your monsters? What roles do they play in your life, in your subconscious, in your nights? Are these terrifying beings causing you nightmares and preventing you from sleeping? Or are they good and loyal friends, road companions, always ready for nocturnal talk?’
The open call is set up in partnership between Belluard Festival and Migros Culture Percentage. It is aimed at artists / professional monsters from the international community and allows them to propose a new creation for the 2020 edition of the festival.
Projects are selected by an international jury and will receive a contribution between 2000 CHF (~1800 EUR) and 12,000 CHF (~11,000 EUR) for production. Following selection, meetings and site visits (if necessary) will take place March 2020. Creation will then take place March-June 2020, with presentation at the 37th edition of the Festival, 25 June – 4 July 2020 in Fribourg, Switzerland.
Deadline: 9 December 2019
