Young Theatre Days Open Call (Lithuania)

Taking place in Klaipeda, Lithuania in April 2020, the eighth edition of the international festival Young Theatre Days will aim to bring together actors, directors, stage designers, dramatists and critics in a non-traditional theatre space, giving them an opportunity to create together and establish contacts for further cooperation. The project involves a series of creative workshops, and is focused on finding ways for young professionals from different creative fields to cooperate, within a limited time frame, so that they can prepare and present a performance to the festival audience.

The workshops themselves will have two different stages: SPRINT and PRO. Four teams will be formed for each stage, with each team consisting of six actors, a theatre director, a dramatist, and a stage designer. Each team will work separately during the workshops, which will be led by the directors. The SPRINT teams will get fresh inspiration each day and present a performance every evening. The PRO teams will present a joint performance after four days of work. The workshops and open previews will take place in spaces near The Culture Factory and other public locations in the city, and each day there will be meetings with audiences to promote analysis and discussion. The best performances from the SPRINT and PRO stages will each be awarded a financial prize.

Applications are invited from professional actors, theatre directors and scenographers of all ages who have completed studies and can participate in the workshops 13-18 April 2020.

The organisers will cover travel expenses (up to 250 Euros for foreign participants) and provide free accommodation, catering, and a pass to all festival events. There is a participant fee of 29 Euros.

Deadline: 31 January 2020
