François Schneider Foundation > Contemporary Talents Competition (France)
Based in the commune of Wattwiller, the François Schneider Foundation has the ambition of discovering and accompanying new talents, of promoting their work to the general public, and of supporting contemporary creation that adopts water as its theme. With the Contemporary Talents competition, created in 2011, François Schneider wants to support creators by promoting them at the Foundation Contemporary Art Centre – via an exhibition and the publication of a catalogue – and through the acquisition of their works.
Every year, more than 1000 artists from a hundred countries apply to the competition. After the selection of about 40 finalists, a maximum of seven prize-winners are chosen by the jury. The annual maximum budget is 300,000 €. Each prize-winner receives 20,000 € for the acquisition of their work, while an amount of 160,000€ is devoted to the realisation of a project (sculpture or installation).
This Competition is open to candidates of all nationalities, all ages, and in all disciplines of the visual arts: painting, installation, drawing, photography, sculpture, video, or any other form of visual art. For installation and sculpture, the artists have the possibility of submitting existing works or new projects. In the case of a new project, a production budget must be attached. For the other disciplines, only existing works can be presented. No additional production budget can be allocated for paintings, drawings, photographs or videos.
Deadline: 15 November 2019
