KIKK association is launching an Arts and Sciences residency programme on the topic ‘Ecological Futures’, connected with the multifaceted creative house Fab Lab and Medialab TRAKK and in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Belgium and CCN/Namur Cultural Center.

The residency gives artistic researchers from various fields the opportunity to work on the intersection of art, science and ecological questions. The call includes the research field of the climate crisis and global warming, loss of biodiversity, models of human and non-human co-existence and the interrelationships of different ecosystems, in relation to the following questions: How can we reduce our ecological footprint and decolonise nature? What do new models of human and non-human co-existences look like? What kind of promising changes does biotechnology offer? And how can we create a new consciousness and awareness regarding the imbalance of nature and culture?

Two artists and/or collectives will be welcomed in residence (one German resident or German nationality and one resident of Brussels or Wallonia) in the studios located at the Centre Culturel des Abattoirs de Bomel, Namur, Belgium, from 13 to 31 May 2024. Each artist (or collective) will develop an art/science project on the theme of ecological futures.

Each artist (or collective) will receive curatorial and scientific support to develop their production project, as well as access to the Protolab TRAKK, TRAKK Medialab and the use of the workshops of the CCN/Centre culture de Namur. The project could also, with the agreement of the festival team, be presented during an edition of KIKK festival or at Le Pavillon, the art centre managed by KIKK.

The grant includes accommodation and a total budget of 10,000 EUR (5,000 EUR per resident) for materials, food and travel (the cost of travel from Germany or another country to Belgium is to be included in that amount).
