Oficinas do Convento (OC) – Cultural Association of Arts and Communication opens the contest BRICK for grants for artistic residency projects in the areas of Sculpture and/or Architecture. The contest is open to all artists, architects, students and other creators, over 18 years old, national or international. The residency runs between 4-30 September, with a second moment in November if necessary.

CRL – Central Elétrica is looking for artistic proposals from young creators in performative arts to be part of VOLTS – International Encounter for Performative Arts, in 2023 in Porto, Portugal. Applying artists/collectives must be from the member countries of the Iberescena Program, excluding Portugal: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

IN EX(ILE) LAB are looking for artists in exile who want to develop a performance. If you are an artist in exile, currently based in Cyprus, France, Italy or Portugal and you have (or would like to develop) an artistic practice that relates to performance then IN EX(ILE) LAB wants to hear from you. Activities take place over the period from May 2023 to July 2024.

Celebrating its 10th edition 12-15 April 2023, Westway Lab is Portugal’s showcase festival, international music conference, and artist residency annual event. 4 working groups of 3 artists (with at least 1 person in each group being Portuguese) will be selected to work together the week before the festival to create new side-projects together.

Emerging artists and companies working in theatre, dance, music, circus, performance, intervention, installation, new media, graffiti, magic and multidisciplinary forms from around the world are invited to present their work at Imaginarius Mais from 25-28 May 2023. One project will be selected for an award and commission for a new piece to be presented at the festival in 2024.

The ACP-EU Culture Programme - Créer en Afrique Centrale has launched its third call for proposals to support cultural and creative industries (CCIs) in Central Africa as economic, social and cultural actors. The call is open to organisations legally registered in one of the following countries: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and São Tomé and Principe.

Associação Cultural Videobrasil and Sesc São Paulo invite artists and/or collectives who are from the Global South, from the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), or who have lived in these regions for at least five years, as well as indigenous artists of any nationalities to participate in the open call for the 22nd Biennial Sesc_Videobrasil. Presented works will be eligible for a number of awards including residency prizes.

Lugar Futuro – First Works is a showcase of choreographic works by young choreographers, framed within the youth dance festival Lugar Futuro. The next edition runs from 18-20 November 2022, in the city of Viseu, Portugal. Presented works must be 10-25 minutes in length and must be one of the first choreographic pieces of the participating authors, who should be aged between 18 and 30 years old.

The NZINGA Residency takes place over one month during October 2022 at the MOVART Gallery in Luanda, Angola. The programme is open to emerging female artists in contemporary African art (visual and plastic arts) who are nationals of one of the Portuguese-speaking African countries (Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, and São Tomé e Principe) or Timor Leste.

The Edigma Semibreve Award celebrates and promotes the creation of works that explore interactivity, sound and image supported through the use of digital technologies. The winner will have the work exhibited during the next edition of the Semibreve festival in Portugal from 27-30 October 2022.

The City as Forest Residency Programme offers immersion for research and experimentation, meant for artists and scientists interested in developing their work in the urban environment of Rio de Janeiro. The programme will run 16 May – 4 June 2022 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Applicants from Brazil, Germany and Switzerland are invited to apply.
