    L’Art Rue Association in Tunis is pleased to host an online retreat for artists and activists working and organising on feminisms, gender and sexuality, to share their research, ideas and projects in a creative and conversational setup. This is a paid opportunity for people who are from or based in the following countries: Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Egypt, Germany, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, Syria and Tunisia. Selected applicants will be invited to share their work in the two-day online retreat as well as to participate in closed and public conversations, all of which are happening 3-4 December 2021.

    The Grand Paris Express is the name for a group of new and extended transit lines being built in the Île-de-France region of Paris. An international call for projects is now being launched for the creation of permanent frescos on the platforms of the Grand Paris Express train stations. In order to enable the laureates to better discover the territory allocated to them and to perfect their project, an on-site five-day residency will be programmed.

  • News / Fondation Jan Michalski: Residencies for Writers

    The Jan Michalski Foundation lies at the foot of the Swiss Jura Mountains in Montricher. Its residency programme is open to all types of writers engaged in literary creation. While they give priority to writers and translators, the Foundation are also open to any other disciplines as long as writing is at the heart of the project. Stays in the Jan Michalski Foundation can be granted for individual projects or projects in pairs, and can last two weeks, one month, two months, three months or six-months. The next wave of residencies will begin from February 2022. Applications are open internationally.

    L’association AWARE : Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions, avec le soutien de la Délégation à la transmission, aux territoires et à la démocratie culturelle du ministère de la Culture, lance un programme de bourses de recherche sur l’histoire des artistes femmes. L'appel est ouvert aux étudiant·e·s inscrit·e·s en Master 1 ou Master 2 en sciences humaines (universités, établissements d’enseignement supérieur en France), ainsi qu’aux jeunes chercheur·se·s (moins de cinq années depuis le dernier diplôme d’enseignement supérieur obtenu en France). L'appel est ouvert aux candidat·e·s d’expression francophone, sans critère de nationalité. Les projets de recherches devront exclusivement être rédigés en langue française.

  • News / ‘The Making of Europe’ Artist Residency (France)

    Initiated by the French Ministry of Culture and DRAC Grand Est, the Fabrique d'Europe (‘Making of Europe’) project will organise a series of ten-week residencies for research, experimentation and creation from January – July 2022. Under the programme, young European arts and culture graduates (graduated after 2010) will work with high school students from rural and peri-urban areas to share the act of creation.

    The Embassy of Foreign Artists, a residency programme in Geneva, is launching a series of calls for themed projects, open to all types of practice. There are three themes artists can apply for: 'Art and Citizenship: Looking at the world with a critical eye', 'Art and Science: Exploring scientific issues through art', and 'Art and Stories: Giving form to archives'. Residency periods are available in blocks throughout 2021, lasting three or six months.

    The New Technological Art Award (NTAA) tries to fill in a gap in the mainstream art world by paying attention to the technological developments that drive our global culture. This international competition is open to all age groups and to all nationalities. Artists can present their candidacy for one art work less than two years old at the time of its submission, but which may already have been exhibited. Selected works will be shown 5 February – 13 March 2022 at the Liedts-Meesen Foundation in Ghent.

    Mahmoud Darwish Chair, Bozar, A. M. Qattan Foundation, Camargo Foundation and Mucem join forces for an open call honouring the legacy of the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. Selected applicants will undertake a 4-week residency in one of three locations – Camargo / Mucem in France, A. M. Qattan Foundation in Palestine, and Bozar / Darwish Chair in Belgium – from July 2021 to July 2022. Applications are welcome from all countries and nationalities that compose the MENA Region and its Diaspora.

  • News / FACE Foundation: Beauford Delaney Grant for Art Historians

    The Beauford Delaney Research Grant funds travel and other expenses related to research projects on African American Art undertaken by France-based academics and scholars. In 2021, the grant will be awarded to an applicant who meets the following criteria: art historians of any nationality working in France, independent or affiliated with institutions (universities, museums, schools of art, etc.), holding a doctorate or an equivalent professional experience, excluding United States citizens who have completed their studies in the US.
