Artlink’s artist-in-residence scheme at Fort Dunree, Ireland is open to professional visual artists working in any discipline including but not limited to: sculpture, photography, painting, installation, and video. Residencies will take place from March till December 2021, and last for four weeks (this can be split into two or more visits).

CreArt have issued a call for an artist or collective from the CreArt Cities Network and a Liverpool digital/graphic designer/street artist/collective to collaborate to design, create and install a site-specific mural within the Chinatown area of Liverpool at Great George Square. The collaboration will take place remotely. Artists may submit individually, to be paired during the selection process, or as a pre-arranged pairing. The production/installation will take place 1-11 February 2021.

Comic Art Europe has launched a call for projects (in any format) for European authors on the theme ‘Visions of tomorrow’. Five projects will be selected with each artist awarded a two-week residency in one of the four partner cities of the project (Lyon in France, Brussels in Belgium, Barcelona in Spain and Kendal in England). Applicants should be residing in Europe.

Artists in and from Africa and its diasporas are invited to apply for a visual commission to address questions of health, knowledge and the body. The commission can be carried out remotely, from January to March 2021 and carries a stipend and production budget for three artists. Successful applicants will be invited to realise visual works in conversation with recent research on how public health knowledge is understood and utilised in Uganda, Kenya, Malawi and Tanzania. This research is led by the Localised Evidence and Decision-Making (LEAD) project, based at London School of Economics’ Firoz Lalji Centre for Africa, in partnership with London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and SOAS, University of London.

For the 2021, edition of its Artists Development Programme (ADP), the EIB Institute is issuing two thematic calls: ‘Disruption: The Imprint of Man’ and ‘Climate Action in the Wake of COVID-19: Build Back Better’. Selected artists will be awarded a residency in Luxembourg between early May and end of June 2021. Applicants should be EU nationals born after 1 January 1986.

Landskrona Foto’s residency programme is an opportunity for a non-Swedish photographer or artist working with photography and/or lens-based media to have time and space away from their usual environment and obligations. The residency takes place over six weeks, from May 2021. Applicants are asked to present a project proposal, and are encouraged to engage in a project related to Landskrona.

Goethe-Institut Denmark have issued an open call for a three-month residency at Spinnerei Leipzig, taking place 2 August – 29 October 2021. The programme is open to visual artists working and living in Denmark, Faroe Islands, Greenland and Iceland.

Funded by ERSTE Foundation, the Artist in Residence Programme at Q21/MuseumsQuartier in Vienna, Austria is open to artists, curators or theoreticians from Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovak Republic and Slovenia. Available dates vary by country of application but run May - December 2021.

The Salzburger Kunstverein, a leading organisation in Central Europe for producing and exhibiting international and Austrian contemporary art, has announced two calls: one for the 2021 SpallArt Prize Salzburg for contemporary photography, and one for the centre’s curator-in-residence programme. The Prize comes with a reidency and exhibition at the centre in 2021, while the curatorial residency runs for one month, 1-30 March 2021. Deadlines: 15 & 16 November 2020.

In partnership with the Pépinières Européennes de Création, IONNYK is launching its first call for participation aimed at contemporary visual artists around digital black & white photographic art. Applicants will have the opportunity to join the IONNYK online catalogue. This call is for contemporary photographic and digital artists.

Established in 1980, Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest’s artist in residence programme annually awards visual artists the opportunity to live and create site-specific work inspired by an experience of total immersion in the natural environment. Residencies normally last between 5-6 weeks, and can be up to two months, with dates arranged with Bernheim. Individuals or small teams may apply.

Gallery +359 is located in the building of a preserved water tower in Sofia, Bulgaria. Its residency programme provides a working stay in Sofia, lasting 2-4 weeks, for a foreign visual artist to create a site-specific project for the water tower space. The residency will take place June / July 2021.
