The V4@Theatre Critics Residency will enable participants to watch and discuss performances at the 31st edition of the International Theatre Festival Divadelná Nitra while meeting theatre professionals from Europe, and taking part in debates with artists and critics who are attending the festival. The workshop will be led by significant theatre experts from Europe.
The residency will held from 22-27 September 2023 at the International Theatre Festival Divadelná Nitra 2023. It offers up-and-coming young theatre professionals aged 35 or under a platform for in-depth exchange about contemporary performing arts. The workshop is run in English.
The project keeps on expanding over the years, bringing in new participants, countries, lecturers and activities that reflect new challenges in performing arts. In 2023, the overarching theme of the project is crisis in art in connection with adverse events across the globe, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine or the economic crisis. In an effort to find ways to elicit audience response, participants will now also focus on the current marked decline in public interest in live art. The theme will be reflected in the artistic and professional programme at the 32nd edition of the International Theatre Festival Nitra 2023, along with two online lectures in autumn 2023.
Selected candidates will receive free participation in festival events and accommodation with half board and reimbursement of travel costs.
