Lighthouse > Open Call for Pier - Residencies for Black Artists (Online)
As part of their Re-Imagine Europe programme, the UK organisation Lighthouse has developed a ‘residency at home’ series that will award support for three black artists. This is an opportunity for artists, practitioners, producers and technologists to expand their practice, research and develop ideas and methodologies. The residency will harness new developments in technology and can be immersive, responsive and interactive, as well as exploring new ways of working. It will run 17 August – 4 September 2020.
An artist fee during your home-residency (£800 per artist).
An allowance for equipment hire, technical support and materials (up to £500).
Access to Lighthouse’s team and relevant members/organisations within Lighthouse’s network, as well as to our partners across the Re-Imagine Europe network who will support your progress in the residency.
Lighthouse hope for the residency to comprise of a visual artist, a music or sound artist/practitioner (e.g. a DJ, music producer, sound artist, composer, performer, sound practitioner, or musician), and a documentarian (e.g. a photographer, designer, filmmaker, animator or writer/critic). However, they are open to other creative formations and a collaborative element is not required if it does not suit the practice.
Following the conclusion of the residency, artists will then have the chance to propose a commission to be produced in partnership with Lighthouse in 2021. As Lighthouse are a digital arts organisation, the commission will use technology in new or innovative ways, be it immersive, interactive, data, sound or light-based, or other.
Applications are open to individuals and collectives across the EU and Lighthouse particularly welcome applications from disabled, queer and non-binary artists. Applicants can get in touch to discuss any additional access needs.
Deadline: 24 July 2020
