Genius Loci Weimar > Video Projection Commissions (Germany)
Genius Loci Weimar is an international festival for audiovisual projects. The organisers are looking to commission three video projection projects to work with three buildings in Weimar: the Marstall, the Goethe and Schiller Archive, and the Altenburg. One submission will be commissioned for each building, with a budget of 15,000 euros made available for the artistic realisation of the work. The winning concepts will be presented in the context of an evening tour through Weimar during the festival from 4-6 September 2020.
Historical awareness, an understanding of architecture, high abstractive and imaginative power, narrative, dramaturgic flair, and a clear vision of the local situation are all vital aspects of a strong concept pitch. Besides classical video mappings, new styles and compositions are also very welcome. Possible styles and compositions include e.g. 3D animation, elements from animation, real and short film and illustrative techniques such as drawing, silhouette, stop-motion etc.
The realisation of such large-scale projections requires technical craftsmanship, enthusiasm for computer graphics and an affinity for modern media. A new element of the call for proposals will be the presentation of the development of the material in a ten-minute video production.
Deadline: 14 June 2020
