Majalat Initiative > Call for National Projects 2020 (Lebanon / Belgium)
Funded by the European Union, the Majalat initiative aims at creating and promoting a space for encounter and constructive dialogue between South of the Mediterranean civil society (civil society organisations, trade unions, social movements, academic actors) and the European Union (EU).
Majalat is currently calling for submissions of national projects that cover five key themes for the EU and Southern Neighbourhood countries' relationship, namely governance and the rule of law, security and fighting against violence, migrations, economic and social dialogue, and social and climate justice. The countries concerned are Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Morocco, Syria and Tunisia. Projects enhancing youth participation will be favoured, as well as projects implemented by Egyptian, Syrian or Libyan organisations (if necessary outside the country).
Five proposals will be selected (one per theme). With a maximum funding of 8000 EUR per project, the actions will have to be implemented between 2 May – 21 June 2020.
The outcomes of the awarded projects will be discussed at the Civil Society South Seminar on the 7 & 8 July 2020 in Beirut, and the awarded organisations will be invited to present them. Finally, these discussions will be included in the structured political dialogues with the European Union in the Brussels Civil Society Forum on 24 & 25 November 2020.
Deadline: 10 March 2020
