Internationales Bildhauer-Symposium > Open Call for Wood Sculptors (Germany)
The Internationales Bildhauer-Symposium is an annual sculpture symposium held in St Blasien, Germany. Over one week international artists gather to create wooden artworks, which are then auctioned off on the last day to pay for next year’s event.
Sculptors are invited to apply for support to attend the event, which will take place 30 August - 6 September 2020. A total of 15 applicants will receive:
A fee of EUR 1000, paid at the end of the week.
A flat-rate reimbursement for travel from place of residence to St. Blasien.
Free meals and hotel accommodation.
Artists will work predominantly with Spruce, Maple if possible. 170 – 220 cm length as trunk untreated, diameter about 50/60 cm. Other types of wood are permitted, but must be organised or brought by the artist. Costs will not be reimbursed. Other materials (not wood) are to be brought along. A material cost subsidy is possible after prior agreement with the organiser up to a maximum of 200€.
Artists will work under permanently installed tents in the city centre during the symposium. The finished sculptures will be auctioned by the City, with the proceeds forming the basis of the next symposium.
