MENA/European training in cultural & creative sector management - Casablanca & Beirut

The MENA/European training in cultural & creative sector management is a project-based training and a peer-to-peer cooperative learning experience to foster regional exchanges within MENA region. Through its content and methodology, this MENA focused capacity building scheme is specific in the way that it not only aims at improving the skills of cultural managers in the field of cultural management, but also at coaching participants to develop collaborative regional projects with the support and follow up of MENA and European expertise as well as of EUNIC clusters. Its main aims are to empower the participants and to develop capacities and tools needed for creative cultural cooperation within MENA.

The objective of the training is to improve the skills and competencies of MENA cultural practitioners in the fields of: 

- Networking and exchanges with operators of various MENA and European countries 

- Developing new approaches in cultural policy reflecting the new trends in the region and the importance of civil society 

- Supporting capacity building and professionalizing of the cultural and creative sectors

- Managing  cultural projects, programs, especially with the cultural cooperation dimension

- Mapping creative industries and cultural policies

Around 16 cultural professionals from 8 MENA countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Jordan) will be selected to participate in the European MENA training which will take place in November 2014 in Casablanca (Morocco) and in April 2015 in Beirut (Lebanon). 

Potential participants

Cultural operators who have an experience of at least 3 years in the cultural/creative sector and have a position of a decision-making role. They should be involved in a project of cultural/artistic development linked to the civil society and are open to cultural cooperation, networking and exchanges and come from the public, private or NGO sector.

Applicants must be fluent in French or English. Interpretation will be provided from Arabic to the above-mentioned when needed, e.g. during field visits and specific interventions.

The expenses for the training program are covered by the organizer and the partners - travel to Casablanca and Beirut sessions, full board in Casablanca and Beirut. Two participants from 8 MENA countries each will be selected in collaboration with EUNIC cluster of their country, which will facilitate/cover the costs of their flights and visas if needed. Local travel fees (airport transfers) in Casablanca and Beirut will be covered upon submission of relevant receipts.
