Telefónica I + D and LABoral launch NEXT THINGS 2013-NEXT SPACE, the Second Global Challenge of Art & Technology. NEXT THINGS 2013-NEXT SPACE seeks innovative ideas on the Internet of Things in the context of art, technology and architecture: art that uses objects / spaces-online / smart, as a means or re-framed art, restates and reflects on what might be the role of the Internet of Things in relation to physical space.

The specific objective of this call in reference to public space and ownershipis the generation of artistic related or similar to the goals of "locative media". It seeks to expand the concept of "means" to accommodate new media and technologies, particularly those that use the term "Internet of things" and "M2M". Preferably the proposals to use these concepts and technologies will be aimed at the activation of new functions of public space, raising new possibilities for relationships between citizens in space - permanently or timely.

The call is open to all artists who move in the space between art and technology.

The selected project will have an artist fellowship of 6 months, to divide ude LABoral Art and Industrial Creation (through Platform 0, its Research, Production and Resources) in Gijón for 2 months and Telefónica I + D (research division of Telefónica technology and development) in Barcelona for 4 months. The purpose of the scholarship is to enable the trainee to materialize the idea chosen.

The selected artist will receive a fee of 12,000 € (gross) plus 2,000 € (gross) to cover travel and subsistance costs at LABoral.

Deadline for sending your ideas: 15 March.
