Center Of Multisensory Art (COMA) > Open call for residencies (Sweden)
COMA is a project at STPLN dedicated to researching and developing multisensory experiences. Breaking free from a dominant visual culture, the emphasis is instead placed on the incorporation of the other forgotten senses to convey artistic expression. Three artists are invited for a period of two months each to develop a final piece to be showcased in Malmö between October 2018 and April 2019. This space is open to experimental processes that embrace the importance of taste, touch, smell, sound and sight. The final piece may be, but is not limited to, an exhibition, performance, workshop, immersive experience, or installation.
Through this residency, artists are selected to produce a final piece which expresses an art form as a multisensory experience. This can be, for example, a performance, workshop, installation or exhibition.
Artists living in the Nordic (except Sweden) and Baltic countries are eligible to apply. This includes Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Greenland, Åland, The Faroe Islands, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
Artists must have an international bank card (able to withdraw and spend in Sweden)
The selection process is two-phased. The first phase focuses on the artists profile and motivation. The shortlist from the first phase is passed on to the jury for the second phase of selection. The second phase focuses on the artists proposed concept. A seven-person jury selects the finalists based on the proposed concepts feasibility, clarity and level of originality
