Year of Intercultural Dialogue - EFAH lobbies
The European Commisisoner Jàn Figel' has proposed that 2008 be a "Year of Intercultural Dialogue". Intercultural Dialogue is a key issue for Europe, and will be of increasing importance over the coming years.

EURES Job Mobility Portal launched
In order to be able to make informed decisions about mobility, job-seekers and employers need information on a wide range of practical, legal and administrative questions. The EURES Job Mobility Portal provides information tools which aim to give help and support when considering moving to or recruiting from another country.

Finland, Portugal and Spain open up their labour markets
Finland, Portugal and Spain are to follow Ireland, Sweden and the UK and open up their labour markets to workers from the new EU Member States in central and eastern Europe from 1 May 2006.

UNESCO biannual prize for the promotion of the arts
The UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of the Arts shall be awarded  in recognition of outstanding creative achievements by young artists, or groups of artists, in the field of the visual arts (painting, sculpture and graphics), new technologies andthe performing arts, and to encourage their further development as artists.

LabforCulture.org portal online update
LabforCulture.org, the on and offline platform for information and knowledge about transnational cultural practice has an online Update.

No budget increase for culture
On the 4th April, the European Parliament and the EU Council agreed just a 4 billion Euro increase in budget. This means no budget increase for culture.

Grants for Mobility

Mawa3eed - cultural and artistic exchange in the Arab region (deadline: 30 May)
Mawa3eed is a program for supporting cultural and artistic exchange in the Arab region. The program aims at encouraging and supporting the circulation of creative works within the Arab region by partially financing travel expenses of artists and writers and their work.

Une bourse d'aide à la mobilité ¡Mira! (deadline: 15 May)
The next selection for mobility grants from ¡MIRA! has set the deadline of 15 May for applications from French, Spanish or Portuguese artists. The grants are aimed at supporting co-operation and mobility.

Art Moves Africa (deadline: 1 May)
Grants for the mobility of artists and cultural operators within the African continent. AMA offers travel funds to artists, arts professionals and cultural operators living and working in Africa to travel within and between the five African regions.

STEP beyond mobility scheme
The ECF's mobility scheme encourages cross-border cultural cooperation and exchange between all European countries, including those that are not currently members of the European Union, and also the countries of the South Caucasus, i.e. Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

International Solo & Duo Dance Festival, Budapest, Jan 07 (deadline: 4 Aug)
8th Solo Dance and 6th Duo Dance International Festival will be held in January 2007 - organised by Orkesztika Foundation in Mu Theatre, Budapest, Hungary. Planned date of the Festival: from 10th till 16th of January 2007. New, short dance productions are wanted!

16th International Festival of Modern Dance, Lithuania, 5-9 Oct (deadline: 30 Apr)
The 16th International Festival of Modern Dance, Kaunas, Lithuania is organized by AURA Dance Theatre. Each participant is required to send information about the company and piece as detailed as possible. The aim of the Festival is to promote and present a variety of artists and companies involved in contemporary dance to the Lithuanian public.

amorph!06 cover up - Screening Lounge submissions! (deadline: 2 May)
For the Screening Room we are looking to create a programme of unique and inspiring works specifically created for the camera. amorph!06 cover up invites submissions of work from international artists in the field of experimental film, theatre, dance and performance.

A two week festival exploring the role of artists in political change is looking for artists, creative professionals, educators, performers, designers, writers, scientists, activists, media maestros and change agents to create work that will engage and involve the audience.

Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, Autumn 2006 (deadline: 30 Apr)
In Autumn 2006, the festival 'Rencontres internationales Paris/Berlin' will present in Paris and Berlin an international programming focusing on film, video and multimedia.  Multimedia section includes performance, concert and sound works.

New technology art commissions, Cambridge, 25-29 Apr 2007 (deadline: 1 Jun)
Enter - Explorations in new technology art will commission three media arts projects in 2006/07 for its festival Unknown Territories: Adventures in Space in Cambridge (UK) between 25-29 April 2007. Enter invites national and international artists to submit proposals for three commissions that consider live interaction with audience and space.

Junction Arts Festival - The Largest Art Meets Street Festival in North America has launched a call for performers.

Festival of Regions, Austria, Jun-Jul 2007 (deadline: 7 May)
The Festival of Regions entitled EXITS AND DEAD ENDS will take place in Austria in June - July 2007. The Festival of Regions is inviting project proposals from the areas of site-specific art and culture, art in public space, everyday culture, performance and participatory practices for the 2007 festival program.

Balkan Black Box 2007 festival
balkan black box 2007: The Cathedral and the Bazaar, a production of Culture in Transitional Settings have launched a call for proposals. balkan black box is a Berlin based festival featuring current works of visual, performing and fine artists from South East Europe.

Festival on dance in documentaries, Cologne 18-20 Oct (deadline: 31 May)
For the second time the worldwide festival on dance in documentaries - initiated and organized by the Deutsches Tanzarchiv Köln (German Dance Archives) - will be held from 18 - 20 October 2006 in Cologne.

Kurt-Jooss-Prize 2007 (deadline: 18 Oct)
In the Autumn of 2007 the Kurt-Jooss-Prize will be awarded for the third time. The prize is endowed with 6,000 Euros and is intended to encourage and foster choreographers not yet fully established in their profession, there are no restrictions as regards style or age.

Bodyschool 2006, Bern, 19-21 June
Bodyschool 2006 - Bodystories: Anatomy, Movement, and perception is a workshop led by Andrea Olsen and Caryn McHose that will take place from 19-21 June in Bern, Switzerland. In this workshop, Caryn and Andrea explore experiential anatomy as a resource for clarifying perception and deepening investigation.

Contacting the World is Contact's pioneering international theatre exchange project for young people. It offers a professional development programme, during the Contact meeting to be held in Manchester, 17 - 23 July. A small number of bursaries are available for theatre practitioners who do not have the ability to fund their attendance at this event.

Mobility in the Euromed space, Fes, Morocco, 12-13 May
The Roberto Cimetta Fund in partnership with the French Embassy in Morocco and the French Institute in Fez are organising the "Assises" of mobility in the Euro-Mediterranean space. The aim is to have a structured and shared think-tank on the concept of mobility in the region, including the mobility of artists, works and cultural operators.
