REAKTOR, a privately run transdisciplinary art institution based in Vienna, is calling for conceptual proposals for a visual arts project that will respond to the architecture of the organisation's main hall. The chosen artists will be invited to flesh out and implement their submitted concept as part of a 1-2 week residency in July 2020, and then showcase it to the public as part of an exhibition in October 2020. V2_, Lab for the Unstable Media is an interdisciplinary centre for art and media technology in Rotterdam (the Netherlands). Its Summer Sessions are short-term international art and technology residencies for emerging artists and designers, taking place at institutions in six countries. Residencies last approximately eight weeks and take place between June and September. Applications are open to artists from the sponsoring countries: Taiwan, Spain, South Korea, Croatia, China, and Argentina. Deadline: 1 May 2020.
Bitamine Faktoria, a centre for cross-border production and creation, is calling all for artists to undertake a 40 day residency (September – October 2020) in the region of Bidasoa, located between the French and Spanish Basque Country. The residency is open to artists of any nationality, except Spanish, and who do not live in Spain. Deadline: 2 April 2020.
La Becque is a Swiss residency centre located on the shores of Lake Geneva, between Vevey and Montreux. It hosts and fosters the creativity of artists of all backgrounds and disciplines, and from around the world. In it is currently calling for applicants for three-month or six-month residencies, taking place between January and November 2021. Deadline (extended): 7 April 2020.
Le Goethe-Institut du Chili et l’Institut français du Chili proposent un programme de résidences artistiques pour cinq duos franco-allemands. Gabriela Tudor Foundation in Bucharest, in partnership with the residency centre AGITLab in Agueda and the City of Agueda, is launching the Gabriela Tudor 2020 residency programme, aiming to support mobility and artistic creation in the field of dance and contemporary art. Residencies take place over approx 4 weeks at two locations: in Agueda, Portugal (1-28 September 2020) and in Bucharest, Romania (8-30 September 2020). Deadline: 15 April 2020.
The media art collective THIS IS FAKE are accepting applications for a one-month artist residency in Zeitz, Germany in September 2020. The residency is aimed at artists who wish to work on a joint exploration of various aspects of virtual reality. Deadline: 1 April 2020.
1646, a project-space for contemporary art, is offering a residency for international artists and curators to stay and work/research at their venue in the centre of The Hague, Netherlands. Socially engaged artists are invited to join a one-month artist residency in the villages of Deleyna and Sinagovtsi (Vidin, Bulgaria), organised by the project platform Ideas Factory. The residency will take place 1 -30 June 2020. This call is addressed to artists from Europe (including non-EU countries). 92Y's International Jewelry Artist Residency is a juried residency for cutting edge, emerging and established jewelry artists to develop their work in the multifaceted New York City art scene. Running 19 August – 20 September 2020, the Residency will provide the opportunity for an international artist with a studio-based practice to develop a new body of work or complete research while engaging with New York's cultural community. L’Art Rue, a Tunisian association carrying out citizens’ and innovative art projects in public spaces, is offering two residency sessions for artists of any discipline from the Middle East and Africa. The first will take place from September to December 2020, and the second from January to April 2021. Regardless of which session(s) artists attend, all successful applicants must also participate in a thinking laboratory, taking place 5-18 October 2020. Metropolis is calling for 10 artists working with performing arts for an international site-specific residency programme in Copenhagen. The programme is aimed at performing artists with an interdisciplinary approach who have an interest in researching, creating and producing work in public space and the public realm.
