Aiming to promote experimentation and innovation in contemporary art, Taoyuan International Art Award provides a platform to incubate a new generation of artists, enhance international art exchanges, and cultivate art research and practice. The Award is organised biennially; applications take place in the first year and the exhibition in the second, so that artists can have more time for creation and exhibition planning.
The call for entries is open to works of any material, category, or field. Artists can submit entries either in Chinese or in English. For artists that are selected after the preliminary review, the organiser will cover the expenses for the basic exhibit build-up and the roundtrip tickets (economy class) to and from Taiwan for foreign artists. The build-up will take place 4-10 March 2021 at Taoyuan Arts Center, with the exhibition held from 13 March – 18 April 2021.
One ‘Grand Prize’ winner will then be selected from the exhibition shortlist and receive a prize of NTD 500,000 (~15,000 EUR), with three others receiving an ‘Honourable Mention’ with a prize of NTD 120,000 (~3600 EUR).
