Asociatia Star Education and the Institut français de Roumanie à Bucarest are inviting musicians to apply to SESAME (Set Sail to Music Export). SESAME is a programme having as its main objective the increase of artists and music circulation within Europe, while also supporting independent artists capacity building and increasing knowledge in crucial topics such as music production, music copyright, online distribution and international touring.
SESAME will organise five songwriting camps in Bucharest, Romania, for 10 artists/bands residing in France, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Turkey, Ukraine and Georgia. (Ukrainian artists/bands can apply even if they are residing in other countries.) Each camp will be seven days.
In each camp, two bands from different countries will meet and write songs together in Bucharest, Romania, under the supervision of a music producer. During the camp they will take part in a few online workshops and the camp will end with a performance of both bands in a venue in Bucharest. During each camp, the writing of a minimum of two new songs must be completed.
The programme invites all music genres, and women are encouraged to apply. All applicants (band members) have to be 18 years old and above to be eligible. At least one member of each band has to be fluent in English (all workshops and project communication will be in English).
Costs for international traveling will be provided. A maximum amount of 350 EUR/person will be granted for a maximum of four people traveling per band. Accommodation (hostel, double room, double occupancy) in Bucharest will be covered directly by the organisers, for the same number of people. A 200 EUR (before taxes) fee will be granted per artist for the live performance, for a maximum of four artists/band. If a band has more than four members, the amount will not exceed 800 EUR (before taxes).
