The current ONASSIS AiR OPEN CALL 2026/27 invites applications for a 10-week residency that takes place in Athens, Greece, between September 2026 and July 2027.
Process, research, and experimentation are at the core of the residency programme. During the residency, participants are invited to delve deeper into their practice without the pressure of presenting a final work.
Serving as a point of access to the ecosystem of Onassis Culture, Onassis AiR offers participants the opportunity to explore future production, co-production, or presentation possibilities and receive support for the international trajectory of their work.
The residencies are organised into three cycles:
- Fall (14 September – 27 November 2026)
- Spring (8 February – 16 April 2027)
- Summer (10 May – 16 July 2027)
For the 2026/27 Open Call, Onassis AiR offers 30 new opportunities across all fields including (but not limited to): Visual Arts, Theatre, Dance, Sound, Art & Advanced Technologies, Filmmaking, Applied Arts, Curatorial, and Writing practices, as well as their hybrid iterations. There is also a new opportunity to conduct research and develop a project in collaboration with the Cavafy Archive.
Collectives are eligible to apply. However, due to limited capacity, a maximum of two representatives from a collective can participate in the residency.
Selected participants will receive an artist’s fee (3,500 EUR), the potential for a research/production budget (1,500–3,000 EUR), housing, travel to/from Athens (capped at 500 EUR for travel within Europe and 1000 EUR for overseas travel), a collective budget for group site-visits and research trips, opportunities to engage with the art scene in Athens through networking events, and access to mentoring and audiovisual equipment.
