L’AiR Arts, a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to support intercultural exchange, launches a call for partner institutions interested in creating art residency opportunities at the historic Atelier 11 Cité Falguière in Paris, France.
Established in 1875, Atelier 11 is the last surviving studio of the world’s longest-running international artists’ residency still in operation. Once home-atelier of Gauguin, Foujita, Modigliani, Brancusi and Soutine, it hosted hundreds of French and international artists throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
Recently recognised as a heritage site, Atelier 11 is scheduled to undergo rehabilitation to continue welcoming artists and cultural professionals as an International Arts Research Residency, celebrating the open and inclusive spirit of the École de Paris.
In preparation for the 150th Anniversary of Atelier 11 after its re-opening, L’AiR Arts is inviting cultural, academic and arts institutions in France and abroad to participate in this living heritage project and nominate their candidates for an inaugural residency season starting in 2025.
The Atelier 11 residency programme is designed for artists and cultural professionals from any creative discipline who wish to develop their artistic research and/or project on a topic/theme of their choice, for a period of two weeks to two months.
Applications must be supported by one or several cultural partners. Partner institutions are invited to co-curate the residency depending on their mission/goals and support their candidate’s creative practice and career development during and following the residency.
The following are not provided by L’AiR Arts, and should be covered by the partner institution or resident:
- Travel expenses to and from Paris
