In/Visible Cities Festival: Performing Arts in Border Areas Meeting (Italy, Slovenia)

‘Along the Line. Border Theaters’ is a public call open to institutions, organisations, collectives, cultural operators, and multidisciplinary artists, with particular attention to performance arts, operating in border areas and implementing cross-border creation practices. The call aims to identify institutions willing to share and network their practices during three days of exchange within the In/Visible Cities Festival in Gorizia (ITA) and Nova Gorica (SLO), from 30 August to 1 September 2024.

Along the Line. Border Theaters aims to experiment with new models of cultural work across borders and intends to promote GO! 2025 Nova Gorica-Gorizia European Capital of Culture as a meeting point to foster the consolidation of a national and international network of institutions operating in the theatrical and performance fields in various border cities.

Along the Line. Border Theaters is a project by: Quarantasettezeroquattro, In/Visible Cities Festival; in partnership with: Karakorum srl Impresa Sociale (Varese), Palinodie ets (Aosta), SNG Nova Gorica, La collina soc. coop., Comune di Gorizia; funded by the Avviso Go!2025 of the region Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy).

The themes to be addressed are: multilingualism, technological support, the potential offered by new languages and tools such as generative artificial intelligence, and methods of engagement and interaction with local communities.

The call is open to all those operating in the fields of performing arts, new dramaturgies, cultural planning, and community-specific processes. The project’s aim is to enable partners to lay the foundations for a lasting collaboration and to initiate a process of knowledge sharing and professional growth, allowing everyone to approach the work of building future international artistic partnerships, especially in border areas.

Selected participants will be guaranteed two reimbursements of 500 EUR each to cover travel and accommodation expenses.
