George Town Festival > Open Call for Proposals 2021 (Malaysia / Online)

George Town Festival (GTF) is an annual festival held in Penang’s capital, George Town, in honour of the city’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. The festival is committed to promoting the beauty of arts, culture and heritage to all as a not-to-be-missed major arts event in the region. GTF also provides a global platform for local and international artists to showcase their outstanding works. Meanwhile, the festival will continue to make arts accessible to everyone – from the festival-goers to the art communities and the general public, regardless of age, ethnicity or background.

In 2021, GTF hope to curate a hybrid festival with reduced audience capacity for physical programmes alongside online streams in presenting a myriad of art forms. They are interested in hearing from artists who are creating online works or whose performances are manageable in spaces where physical distancing is achievable.

The work can be one which has been touring around or an entirely new show which has not yet been showcased to the public – whether music, dance, theatre, visual art, film, photography or something else. Applicants submit a budget alongside their proposal.
