Fanak Fund: NURUS Programme Mobility Grants Focused on Environmental Issues

Supported by the Interministerial Delegation for the Mediterranean of the French Government, the Fanak Fund is launching the NURUS programme (Arabic name for ‘Seagull’). NURUS aims to support applications for mobility assistance from artists and/or cultural operators as part of projects that aim to popularise environmental issues among populations.

The purpose of the proposed trip must be one of the following:

  • Creation of a work related to the environmental issue.
  • Animation of artistic workshops related to this theme, particularly for young people or local populations.
  • Artistic or cultural actions to raise awareness of this theme.
  • Network meetings, conferences, seminars on this theme.
  • Pre-production meetings on this theme.
  • Artistic participation in more general actions on this theme.

NURUS travel grants are open to applications from artists or cultural operators from all artistic or cultural disciplines (including non-industrial arts and crafts, provided that they are creative in nature). Only individuals may apply for themselves. Group applications or applications submitted by third parties are not eligible.

Eligible persons are those who live permanently and work in the following countries: Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Malta, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania.

All international itineraries between these countries are eligible. Intra-European travel is not eligible. Intra-national travel is not eligible.

Travel grants may cover the following expenses only:

  • International transport tickets
  • Ground transport tickets (to and from airports, or international ground travel)
  • Visa fees
  • Travel insurance costs
  • Health costs if applicable
