Launched by IWM - Institute for Human Sciences in collaboration with the Mahanirban Calcutta Research Group (CRG) in June 2020, the Europe-Asia Research Platform on Forced Migration places a particular focus on South Asia and its European-Asian dimension. This collaboration advances cooperation between European and South Asian institutions and academics, while working toward innovative knowledge production on forced migration and border regimes.
A series of activities and workshops have been organised with the aim of enhancing research capacities and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and policy expertise in forced migration studies in and between Europe and South Asia. Bringing together scholars, policymakers and practitioners from different disciplines and regions, the platform aspires to decentering Europe-focused scholarship, debates, and policies on forced migration.
Within the framework of the Europe-Asia Research Platform on Forced Migration, the IWM will invite up to two participants from Europe to take part in CRG’s Five-Day Camp on Ethics of ‘Solidarity, Care, and Protection’, to be held 23-27 January 2022 in Darjiling, India.
Applicants should be scholars, activists, teachers, care workers including doctors, nurses, and other paramedical staff, journalists, photographers, filmmakers, media persons, writers, poets, theatre personalities, musicians, painters, and/or public functionaries engaged in care and protection work.
The IWM will cover their travel expenses to and from Kolkata, and CRG will offer local hospitality, including local transfers to and from Darjiling and full-board accommodation.
