Cirkorama Associations from Zagreb, Cirkus Kolektiv and ROOM 100 from Split, Prostor Plus from Rijeka, Čarobnjakov šešir from Pula, K.V.A.R.K. from Križevci and Kućni Kolektiv from Klanjec are invite artists and collectives of contemporary circus and related performing arts to apply for a residency in Croatia of up to 15 days that must be completed by the end of 2025.
The competition is intended for regional artists from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Kosovo, and is open to all circus, dance, acting, new media and interdisciplinary ideas and emerging works.
Applicants can apply for residencies in one or more of the following venues across Croatia:
- Cirkobalkana Circus Tent (Zagreb)
- Small Stage of the Youth Center (Split)
- Filodrammatica Gallery and Performance Hall (Rijeka)
- Culture Club (Križevci)
- Čarobnjakov šešir / DC Rojc (Pula)
- Kuća Klajn (Klanjec)
- Mediterranean Dance Center (Svetvinčenat)
Up to seven residencies will be supported. Each residency will conclude with a public presentation of the work-in-progress, followed by an opportunity to engage with the audience.
Selected artists or one to two members from performance teams will have the opportunity to participate in the Circus Residency Network Laboratory, mentored by an Irish conceptual artist with a circus background, Darragh McLaughlin. The laboratory is from 22 to 27 April 2025 and will take place at the Big Hall of Pogon Jedinstvo in Zagreb.
Circus residential network provides travel expenses, accommodation, workspace, organisation of work-in-progress performance, necessary technical conditions for residency and performance and media visibility.
