Caldas da Rainha UNESCO Creative City Residency in Ceramics 2024 (Portugal)

The city of Caldas da Rainha, part of the UNESCO Creative Cities network, is known for its rich activity in the areas of arts, design, crafts and innovation. The Municipality of Caldas da Rainha, the Caldas da Rainha School of Arts and Design of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (ESAD.CR) and the Chair in Arts and Culture Management of the same Institute, are calling for artists to carry out an international artistic residency.

This artistic residency is aimed at international artists over the age of 18 with a proven track record in ceramics from other UNESCO Creative Cities outside Portugal. The residency will take place in the city of Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, between September and October 2024 (six weeks).

During the residency period, moments will be scheduled to open the studio to the community, allowing for the sharing of processes and other interactions considered relevant during this experience, including studio visits and collaboration with local ceramic artist(s).

The successful applicant will be awarded a grant of 3,000 EUR, to be distributed in two phases. An amount of up to 1,500 EUR will be awarded as support for travelling expenses to and from Caldas da Rainha. Resident artists will have access to accommodation and a studio at ESAD.CR.
