Artist in Coexistence: Residency 2024 (Sweden)

Artist in Coexistence (AiC) is a platform for artistic exploration from a post-humanist perspective for creatives from all artistic disciplines.

A two-week residency at AiC means that artists work in close relationship with the site and in an exploratory collaboration with more-than-human, to open up new patterns of thought and notions of coexistence between human and more-than-human. Artists should be curious about how a post-humanist perspective can enrich their own artistic practice but also how their work can contribute to change towards a sustainable planetary coexistence.

AiC is located on the island of Orust in Bohuslän in the Skagerrak Sea, Sweden. Orust is close to the cities of Uddevalla and Stenungsund and about one hour north of Gothenburg. There are four residency periods at AiC, one per season. Each period lasts about two weeks and is arranged in consultation with the resident.

  • Spring – the awakening, starting 12 April
  • Summer – the vibrancy, starting 17 June
  • Autumn – the decomposition, starting 20 September
  • Winter – the hibernation, starting 22 November

Successful applicants are provided with a studio, accommodation, a working grant of 10,000 SEK and a material budget of up to 5,000 SEK.
