25th International Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival Stuttgart (Germany)
The next edition of the International Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival will take place in Stuttgart 17-21 March 2021. The festival is the only competition throughout Europe that gives young artists the opportunity to present their dance and choreographic ideas and abilities in front of an international, knowledgeable audience. It offers a good framework for establishing important contacts for an artistic career for many young dancers and choreographers. On three evenings, six choreographic productions – mostly world premieres – will be presented. On the third evening, the jury will announce the nominations for the final.
At the event itself, the jury will award three prizes in the choreography category and three prizes in the dance category, all ranging between EUR 1500 and EUR 3500. Two further prizes both worth EUR 500 will be awarded by the audience. In addition, there will be a Residence Prize, in which the winner have the opportunity to study and perform his/her own choreography with a professional dance company. The winner of the Eastman Prize Stuttgart will be invited to the prestigious workshop ‘Eastman Summer Intensive 2021’ in Antwerp.
The organiser covers hotel costs (incl. breakfast) and pays a subsidy towards travel expenses for selected participants.
The festival focuses on the promotion of young artists. To this end, competitors should be under 30 years old. The choreographed solo dance pieces submitted should be under a year old and between nine and 12 minutes long. The choreographer may interpret his or her own piece.
Deadline: 11 November 2020
