Freespace > Call for Hong Kong Dance Artist (Online)
Lockdowns, travel restrictions and social distancing have spurred new ways of making connections and new ways of creating, performing, exchanging and experiencing art.
To delve deeper into innovative new practices and ideas, the theatre Freespace is looking for a Hong Kong dance artist (living in Hong Kong or overseas) to join their international dance exchange programme Creative Meeting Point in the virtual residency exchange Museum of Human E-motions (MoHE) 2020 – a new iteration of an international dance collaboration that first took place in 2019.
Between September and December 2020, five participating artists from France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan and Taiwan will explore digital space as a place for creation and dialogue through a combination of local research and online international sharing. The theme of the programme is human emotions and experiences across private, public, environmental and digital spheres. Working with experts from various fields and an international facilitator, each dance artist will devise online sharing and workshop sessions, participate in virtual exchanges, and prepare an original digital presentation that explores new forms of documentation and sharing and opens up their creative process to the public.
The residency period runs September–December 2020. The selected artist will receive a residency fee.
Deadline: 30 July 2020
