Suoja/ Shelter Festival-Laboratory > Open Call for Curators (Online)
For its third edition the Suoja/Shelter Festival-Laboratory, normally held in Helsinki, will take place online, 12-14 June 2020. The organisers are seeking a curator who will work in close collaboration with the festival to develop and produce its core programme. Individuals of any age, gender, nationality and country of residence are invited to apply.
The conceptual frame of the third edition of Suoja/ Shelter Festival-Laboratory is ‘H_st_rical Narratives’: the main focus is laid on the aspects of personal and political affects in the domain of historical systems and speculations. Moving online, the festival creates a space for performative experiments, discussions, and immersive interactions, welcoming the diversity of artistic practices which can reidentify themselves for a digital space. The online edition is offered as a try-out with the possibility of working further on the same topic, on a larger scale, during a future offline event.
The festival will run for three days, 12-14 June 2020, on Zoom (which can host 300 participants at once). The curator will develop a programme that can encompass sound and performance art, video and moving image, computer art, artistic research and education. It should be composed both via direct invitations and via an open call.
The festival offers:
400 euro unrestricted honorarium.
3000 euro budget for the invited artists and artists via an open call.
Press materials and PR support.
Deadline: 5 May 2020
