Fondation FIMINCO (France) > Call for curators
The Fondation FIMINCO offers a residency open to curators of any age from across the world for a residency in research, creation, and production based in the Romainville area (Seine-Saint-Denis). The curatorial residency is part of the artist residency program that will jointly welcome 17 artists for a duration of 11 months starting in January 2020.
The Fondation FIMINCO is dedicated to supporting multidisciplinary contemporary international creation through a program of residencies, exhibitions, performances, events, and workshops. It will open its doors in Fall 2019 in Romainville, just east of Paris, in the heart of a space set to bring together a number of cultural players from both the public and private sectors: five contemporary art galleries (Air de Paris, Imane Farès, In Situ, Jocelyn Wolff, Vincent Sator) as well as the reserve collection of the Île-de-France’s Regional Collection of Contemporary Art (FRAC). The Fondation’s facilities will also include a 1,200 m2 exhibition space, La Chaufferie, which will host exhibitions and presentations by the resident artists and curator, guest artists, and partnering institutions.
To apply, curators should submit a proposal that succinctly describes the lines of research and creation they’d like to develop, taking into account both the Fondation FIMINCO and the residency’s artistic environment. Proposals can feature collaborations with cultural partners and organizations based in Seine-SaintDenis or, more largely, the greater Paris area (institutions, art centers, research centers, artists, non-profit organizations, etc.). They can also plan initiatives aimed at the public (residents, non-profit organizations, students, visitors, etc.). Proposals can suggest developing links with other art scenes and research centers from across the world.
An annual research grant of 10,000 euros will be awarded to the curator to finance their research and proposal, as well as a production budget of 20,000 euros, to be used to finance an exhibition or any type of event they organize. The Fondation’s teams can also provide support for securing additional funding.
Deadline (extended): 10 October 2019
