GMEA – National Center of Musical Creation of Albi-Tarn (France) > Open call for applications

En français

The GMEA – National Center of Musical Creation of Albi-Tarn was founded in 1981. Among eight other centers in France, it is part of a network certified by the french Ministry of Culture. A leading organization for musical creation in Occitanie, the GMEA welcomes ensembles and musicians for rehearsals, research, experiments and recordings.

Accessible to all sound and experimental musical practices of our time, the GMEA accompanies the emergence of new musical forms coming from written, improvised, instrumental, electroacoustic or electronic music. The centre will welcome musicians or ensembles from one to seven persons at a time for a residency session of 5 days. The aim is to permit creation, recording, research or sound work on a multidisciplinary project (dance, visual arts…). All during the residency, artists will enjoy technical, logistical and administrative support, and will have access to the center’s network (artists, professionals, resource centers, broadcasting structures), which could be helpful for the development of their project.

The center will provide a workspace and a technical and administrative team available for the selected artists according to their needs. These residencies will take place in the GMEA (studios and rehearsal room), or on the premises of the GMEA’s partners (Scène Nationale d’Albi, Maison de la Musique / Cap Découverte, Musée du Saut du Tarn, Musée du Verre, City of Albi…). The center will cover the costs of the travels for the artistic teams to Albi (France and Europe), the housing, and the team’s meal fees for the time of residency. Payment of an additional financial support for production could be considered depending on the project. During these residencies, a time for meeting and exchanging with audiences and schools could be organized.

Deadline: 30 June 2019
