As an international platform for knowledge transfer, Forecast offers artists and creative thinkers from anywhere in the world the chance to work with accomplished mentors toward bringing their projects to fruition. Forecast transcends neatly defined disciplines and genres to provide insight into creative production processes, and carve out space for the questions on the minds of the next generation of trailblazers.

For each edition, Forecast selects six mentors of various disciplines who offer interested participants their expertise in specifying and realizing their pioneering project ideas. The following mentors are participating in the fourth edition of Forecast: visual artist Candice Breitz (ZA), artist and internet activist Paolo Cirio (IT), musician Okkyung Lee (KR), cartoonist Anders Nilsen (US), radio reporter Joe Richman (US), and conceptual designer Jerszy Seymour (UK/CA).

Forecast encourages interdisciplinary exchange and public discussion on the ideas of the future.18 applicants will then be invited to Berlin to discuss their ideas and present them at Radialsystem during the Forecast Forum July 1–7, 2019. At the end of the Forecast Forum, each of the six mentors then selects one concept to accompany to its realization. The outcomes of these collaborations would then be presented at the Forecast Festival, taking place at Radialsystem March 30–April 5, 2020.

If you are invited to present your concept at the Forecast Forum in Berlin in July 2019, Forecast will grant you accommodation and travel costs, and provide infrastructure and space for your presentation at the Radialsystem. You may buy or produce material necessary for your presentation, at a cost of up to 800 euros. If your proposal is subsequently chosen as one of the six projects to be showcased at the Forecast Festival in April 2020, you will receive an artist fee and a production budget for realizing your project, amounting to 18,000 euros altogether. You will also benefit from using the equipment and spaces at Radialsystem, and receive support in applying to further collaborations and/or funding.

Deadline: 1 March 2019
