IDENSITAT and CONSORCIO DE MUSEOS DE LA COMUNITAT VALENCIANA are offering a residency to an artist or collective to develop a project within the social contexts of the cities of Valencia, Castellón and Alicante, in collaboration with Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporána, Centro Cultural Las Cigarreras de Alicante and Museu de Belles Arts of Castellón.The residencies will last for a maximum period of two months between September 2018 and March 2019, and their aim is to carry out a site-specific project within the framework of the process promoted by IDENSITAT on the subject of Leisure Ecosystems.

The project aims to study Leisure as a driver and generator of specific themes in the regions chosen, based on the concept of leisure as a generator of activities, landscapes, aesthetics and relational spaces. Leisure and its social role form part of a highly integrated and deeply-rooted system of geography, economics and everyday life within these regions, configuring spaces in which usage based upon leisure and free-time activities is increasing. These leisure-related settings create models of landscape, of social relationship and of connection with or rejection of their surroundings, from which arise their own aesthetics, modifying the uses and dynamics which are configured around them. The new visions proposed around this ecosystem will be promoted on the basis of artistic practices, in association with social organisations and spaces for educational action.

The call is aimed at artists or groups of artists, with an interest in the proposed social contexts, and in the proposed theme. Applicants must have some fluency in Spanish or Valencian. A project will be selected for each city.

The selected proposal will be granted 2.300 euros as fees, 400 euros for travel aid. And a maximum of 1,600 euros will be available for production. Accommodation will be paid by the organisation. Fees will be paid in two installments, 60% at the beginning of the residency, and 40% before it is finalised. Production costs will be agreed according to the project.

Deadline: 15 July 2018
