Festival Theaterformen (Germany) > Open call: African Cultural Journalists in Braunschweig
Journalists from Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Senegal, Tanzania and Tunisia are invited to send applications for a two-week workshop in cultural journalism in Braunschweig, Germany (4-17 June 2018). The chosen countries are related to the theatre programme of Festival Theater-formen 2018. Journalists from other African countries are asked to contact us via email before handing in an application. The workshop will take place at Festival Theaterformen (www.theaterformen.de), one of Germany’s leading festivals of contemporary performing arts. The course lecturers are Mounia Meiborg (Berlin / Germany, Süddeutsche Zeitung) and Parfait Tabapsi (Yaoundé / Cameroon, www.mosaiques.com).
The workshop will deal with the value of culture and the role of cultural journalism in the context of social and political challenge as well as practical features of writing interviews and critical texts on the performing arts.
Ten participants will be selected based on the above criteria. The selection results will be announced on 20th December 2017. The organiser will cover travel costs, visa related costs as well as accommodation and per diems for successful candidates.
