In collaboration with the EU-Japan Fest, Wrocław 2016 Office invites Japanese artists, architects, designers, curators and cultural managers for 4 weeks group residency in Wrocław, Poland.
The Artist In Residence Programme AIR Wro is a legacy programme of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016. Its main purpose is to support and promote activities of individuals representing various fields of art and culture or active in border areas between them, interested in cooperating with representatives of local communities and environments as well as eager to build international cultural relations.
Cooperation, re-usage of cultural institution’s resources and ecological awareness can be a starting point for artistic, cultural and social activities rooted in dialogue and mediation. The organisers invite groups of 5 Japanese artists, curators, cultural managers, architects and designers living in Japan or Europe, and interested in collaborative work to create a new project in Wrocław, Poland.
Key words for this open call are: cooperation, resources, urban community, ecology and green philosophy, cultural and civic education, collectivism, public space, activism, design and, above all, artistic and cultural practices in contemporary urban environment.
What is provided:
– residency in Wrocław for 4 weeks in February 2018
– accommodation in 3 apartments in the city centre
– allowance per person in the amount of €20 per day
– travel expenses up to €1000 for the whole group
– coverage of materials up to €3300 gross
– substantive, networking, production and promotional support
