British Council > Cultural Protection Fund: Call for applications
The Cultural Protection Fund is designed with applications from UK organisations in mind, but any organisation is eligible to apply.
Grants are available to applicants working with local partners in one or more of the Fund’s target countries: Afghanistan, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Iraq, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and Yemen.
There are separate application processes for small grants (up to £100K) and large grants (more than £100K). For large grants there will be two rounds of funding per financial year, and small grants will run on a rolling basis with quarterly decision meetings.
All applicants will be asked to complete an online expression of interest form in order to confirm eligibility, before being invited to complete an online application form.
In the current round, organisations can apply for grants of up to £2 million for projects focussing on the protection of cultural heritage at risk due to conflict. The maximum amount of funding available to applicants will be subject to review at the end of each funding round.
The Cultural Protection Fund is administered by a UK-based team (not the British Council offices based with our target countries).
Deadlines for the large grants (expression of interest): 31 March 2017 and for the small grants: 21 April, 21 July 2017 and 20 October 2017.
