Call for proposals: new vision on the Balkan Incentive Fund for Culture
The Balkan Incentive Fund for Culture (BIFC) was set up in 2006 by the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) in partnership with the Humanist Institute for Cooperation with Developing Countries (Hivos) and the Open Society Foundation (OSF) and its national foundations in the region. It was created in response to the findings of ECF’s Balkan Reflection Group which observed that the stimulation and support of dialogue and cooperation are essential prerequisites for the integration of the region into a larger Europe. At present, the aim of the BIFC is to strengthen the independent cultural sector in the Balkan region as a part of civil society.
BIFC’s current main tasks and responsibilities
- Grants
- Partnership development
- Capacity development
ECF is offering a unique opportunity to rethink the Balkan Incentive Fund for Culture (BIFC) across the region. Together with the Open Society Foundation (OSF), we are inviting organisations in the Balkans to submit inspiring proposals to establish and develop the fund in the region, building on the legacy of BIFC and exploring new opportunities for partnerships.
New views on how the BIFC could develop in the region to best serve the aspirations and needs of the professional arts and culture sector in the Balkan region are welcome.
