Opportunity as chief curator at Whitechapel gallery

The Whitechapel Gallery is a touchstone for contemporary art internationally, plays a central role in London’s cultural landscape and is pivotal to the continued growth of the world’s most vibrant contemporary art quarter.

The Chief Curator is a senior position working closely with the Director. The successful candidate will bring a strong curatorial vision and an engagement with new developments in art and visual culture around the world. They will help shape the future artistic programme, devise specific exhibitions, projects and publications; and articulate, through public talks and writings, the ideas and issues that inform contemporary practice. They will also be engaged with 20th century art history from a global perspective, curating occasional historical surveys. The Chief Curator will provide editorial guidance for Whitechapel Gallery interpretation, publicity texts and publications.
