Temporary home - call for residencies

´temporary home´ is a interdisciplinary arts and culture initiative which actively explores concepts of 'home' in its broader sense. The 2012 edition home in crisis asks how situations of crisis affect the notions, needs and desires of home. The project runs for six weeks from July 1st – August 24th, 2012, parallel to the upcoming documenta13 in Kassel, Germany. During this time, ´temporary home´ literally manifests as a real home for a group of international creatives who will live and work together in a joint investigation, the lived-in installation. The project starts July 1st with a two-week 'construction of home' phase, followed by one month of occupancy (starting July 13th) featuring an ongoing cultural program with art exhibition, performances, music, theatre display, movie nights, discussions, and the creation of space for social interaction and experimentation. All events will be non-for-proft and open to the public.

The sum of activities in ´temporary home 2012 - home in crisis´can be interpreted as a lived dialogue dealing with the following guiding questions: How do inner and outer, experienced and projected situations of crisis infuence concepts of home? Does crisis lead to the reactionism of people returning to traditional values, or will conventions be deconstructed, neglected? Has recent crisis given impetus to innovative approaches? What about escapist tendencies that drive some to physical migration while others turn to utopian and hedonistic constellations and fantasies?
