Participate in the 6th Bucharest International Jazz Competition, 7-13 May 2012, Romania (deadline: 10 February 2012)

Bucharest International Jazz Competition, organized by jmEvents.ro, is a singular event on the professional Romanian jazz scene, but also in the entire South Eastern Europe. It is addressed to bands and vocalists aged up to 35 years, and its mission is to contribute to the acknowledgement of the Romanian and international jazz values.

The 6th Bucharest International Jazz Competition, 12 - 19 May 2012, is open to bands and vocalists of all nationalities. 

Applicants must be born after 1st of May 1977. 

Competition Procedure

Eligibility

Bands may have up to 6 performing musicians and they will include:

  • instrumentalists and vocalists
  • instrumentalists
  • vocalists 

1st Round - Selection of semi-finalists 

The admissions panel and adjudicators will evaluate each application and CD. Recording must have been made within the past 12 months. The CD must include 2-3 pieces of different style.


2nd Round - Semi-final on 12 – 17 May 

  • Semi-finalists will perform 50 - 60 minutes in the competition’s concert hall
  • Semi-finalists will perform 50 - 60 minutes in an unconventional space
Competitors have complete freedom in choosing their repertoire.


3rd Round - Final on 18 – 19 May

Finalists will perform 20 minutes.

Registration deadline is February 10, 2012 - date of postmark or courier service stamp. Confirmation of the applicants' registration in the competition will be made before March 30, 2012.
