“Madarat - platform for exchange” - summary of the debates

The Roberto Cimetta Fund (RCF), is publishing the summary of the debates during the “Madarat - platform for exchange” on 21st November 2012 at the Institut français de Beyrouth. This meeting grouped together 55 artists, operators, journalists, institutional representatives, experts and Board members of RCF and regional members of the Istikshaf platform from 21 countries.

On invitation of IGBK, the Berlin Weißensee School of Art and the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa) artists, curators and researchers discussed reasons for artists’ mobility at a conference that was held in 2011 in Berlin. Also they gave attention to the impacts of mobility on life and work of artists. Not for free.

CLEISS (Centre of European and International Liaisons for Social Security)

To facilitate the ever-increasing movement of people between countries, France and Europe have an international legal framework which ensures efficient coordination of national social security systems for persons moving outside national boundaries. The Cleiss is the French hub organisation involved in implementing these agreements on behalf of public authorities and social security organisations, with respect to all risks and social security schemes. The Cleiss acts as a liaison body between the French social security institutions and their foreign counterparts. It is a French public institution.

Measuring the impact of a mobility grant: a work in progress by the Roberto Cimetta Fund

RCF is pleased to publish an assessment on the impact of mobility. This assessment is a necessary follow-up, in the collaboration we have undertaken with regional and local partners, to define strategies for transnational artistic mobility. International Symposium on Cultural and Sustainable Development 2012 - reports and interventions

The International Symposium (Paris, autumn 2012) brought together 330 artists, researchers, experts, and professionals in the fields of culture and sustainable development, as well as political decision-makers and representatives of international organizations. The goal was to highlight innovative practices, create new partnerships, and devise strategies to strengthen and promote the link between culture and sustainable development. ECAS is launching a Hotline as part of its EU Rights Clinic to overcome the visible and hidden barriers to European citizenship. Citizens throughout the EU will be able to call the hotline, fill in the on-line form or Skype in order to share their personal stories, seek help and thus contribute to improvements in European policy and legislation.

Pearle* launches campaign to make an end to the cross-border double taxation of artists

Pearle* members, representing over 5,000 performing arts entreprises and organisations across Europe, adopted unanimously a resolution including proposals to make an end to the double taxation of artists. The entire sector is affected by the application of article 17 of the OECD Model Tax Convention. It is a major hindrance for the live performance sector to develop its activities in the European Union and worldwide. Spread the word and send this petition to your Ministries of Finance!
