Evaluation of the International Opportunities Fund (Wales) - a study commissioned by Wales Arts International to On the Move
Wales Arts International has commissioned an evaluation of the International Opportunities Fund (IOF) and its impact on the mobility of artists and cultural professionals based in Wales. The research was carried out by On the Move through interviews with both recipients of the IOF awards and their international partners.
The report was prepared by Marie Le Sourd, Elena Di Federico (both members of staff of On The Move) and Dr Sung-Won Yoon. The report includes useful references and weblinks of organisations in the fields of performing arts, publishing, cultural heritage, visual arts and audiovisual as well as a section on cultural mobility.
This regional mobility and freedom of movement policy agenda aims to develop closer links between a range of stakeholders including government agencies, foundations, voluntary and community sector in delivering specific policies and positions in areas affecting mobility with a focus on arts, culture and social entrepreneurship. Throughout 2013, On the Move has been co-producing or updating guides and toolkits to help artists and cultural professionals to better identify funding and/or information resources to support their mobility. (Re)-discover them!
One of the key objectives of this repertory is to help Latin American - and international - artists and cultural professionals to identify information sources and to find potential ways to support their cultural mobility related projects.

Results of the public consultation by the European Commission: Improving procedures for obtaining short-stay ‘Schengen’ visas
The aim of the consultation was to collect opinions on how to have more effective rules on family reunification at EU level and to provide factual information and data on the application of the Directive. The results are now online and highlight in particular the characteristics of the arts and cultural sector with regards to high mobility and visas issues.
Presentation of the UN Report, “The Right to Freedom of Artistic Expression and Creation” by Farida Shaheed
The presentation of this report, coordinated by the EU Working Group on Arts and Human Rights (ARJ)*, was with its author, Mme Farida Shaheed, UN Special Rapporteur in the field of Cultural Rights on 2nd of October 2013 in Brussels (Belgium) at the European Parliament.
European cities and cultural mobility: Trends and support actions: A study commissioned and supported by Nantes. Prepared by On the Move for EUROCITIES
This study "European cities and cultural mobility: Trends and support actions" analyses the policies and actions implemented by large European cities to support the mobility of artists and cultural professionals. This study is based on the results of a survey completed by 24 cities in 15 European countries.
Guide to funding opportunities for cultural journalists in Europe: an On the Move research dossier commissioned by the Unpack the Arts project
The partners of Unpack the Arts approached On the Move in 2012 to work on a specific guide to funding opportunities for European cultural journalists’ mobility, based on the model of the Guide to Funding Opportunities for the international mobility of artists and cultural professionals in Europe. The guide is now online for free! (update: May 2014)
Platform meeting of Asian and European cultural mobility funders, Prague- Czech Republic, 5-6 June 2013
Over 35 organisations and institutions from Asia and Europe gathered in Prague, Czech Republic in early June for the first ever meeting of mobility funders from Asia and Europe, organised by the Czech Arts and Theatre Institute, Kelola Foundation (Indonesia) and On the Move with the support of the Creative Encounters programme of ASEF – Asia-Europe Foundation and Arts Network Asia. Artists' mobility and Schengen visas: recommendations to the European Commission/DG Home and concerned EU Member States
2013 is a strategic year: the European Commission - DG Home Affairs is revising the EU visa code and has opened a public online consultation to improve the procedures for obtaining short-stay "Schengen" visas. Therefore this is a unique strategic moment for the cultural sector in Europe and beyond to make its voice heard and let the EU policy-makers know about the specific needs of mobile artists as regards Schengen visas.
