Four PRACTICS Infopoints (Belgium, Netherlands, Spain & Wales)
PRACTICS is a project supported by the European Commission which aims to provide information to help the mobility of artists and cultural professionals in Europe. PRACTICS Infopoints are conceived as Cultural Mobility Contact Points. The 4 pilot Infopoints, operational during the course of the project (2009 - 2011), are to be found in Belgium, Netherlands, Spain and Wales.
PRACTICS Infopoints…
… help artists and cultural workers to overcome obstacles in pursuing an international career,
… provide user-friendly information about EU cross-border mobility in the cultural sector,
… are first entry-points to a new country for cultural professionals,
… offer concrete administrative support to both foreign cultural workers who want to work in the country where Infopoints are based and to national cultural workers who want to work in another EU-country,
… are located in Belgium, Netherlands, Spain and Wales.
PRACTICS Infopoints answer questions, provide handbooks and advise on legal, fiscal and social issues.
Main information areas are:
1. regulatory issues (social security, taxation, intellectual property rights, visas and work permits etc.)
2. national funding and financing opportunities for mobility
3. country profiles
4. local job and employment market
Infopoints are first entry-points to a country for cultural professionals and their task is to offer user-friendly information to both foreign cultural workers who want to work in the country in which the PRACTICS Infopoints are based and to national cultural workers who want to work in another EU-country. Their objective is to offer concrete administrative support to help artists and cultural workers overcome obstacles in pursuing an international career. This involves answering questions, providing handbooks and advising on legal, fiscal and social issues... and organising training events in their countries.

PRACTICS is one of four networked cultural mobility pilot projects (with SPACE, CHANGING ROOM and e.mobility) funded by the European Commission under the 2009-2011 Pilot Project for Artist Mobility. The aim is to promote mobility by capitalising on the knowledge and experience which already exists among organisations supporting mobility by facilitating the exchange of experience and mutual learning.
